Cinema Vines (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a movie and entertainment news app. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. We wrote it to match what the app actually does — not a generic template.
No Account Required
Cinema Vines does not require you to sign up or log in. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifying information as part of using the app.
Information We Collect
Device identifier. On first launch, the app generates a random identifier stored only on your device. It is not derived from your device’s hardware and cannot be used to identify you personally. We use it to recognize repeat usage for engagement tracking, push-notification targeting, and content recommendations.
Push notification data. If you enable notifications, the app registers a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token with our servers, along with your device platform (Android, iOS, or Web) and your selected news language, so we can deliver relevant notifications. Turning notifications off removes the token from your device.
Usage analytics. We use Firebase Analytics to log which articles you view (article ID and title) so we can understand what content resonates and improve recommendations. We do not use this data to build an advertising profile, and we don’t run any ad SDKs in the app.
App preferences. Your selected language, chosen interests/categories, notification setting, and light/dark theme preference are stored locally on your device. They are not tied to any personal identity.
Saved articles. Articles you bookmark for later are stored in a local database on your device only. They are never uploaded to our servers.
What We Don’t Do
- We don’t require or collect an account, email, or phone number.
- We don’t access your camera, photo library, or contacts.
- We don’t run advertising SDKs or build ad-targeting profiles.
- We don’t sell your data to anyone.
Third-Party Content
Some articles embed content from Twitter/X, Instagram, or Facebook, or link out to the original news source’s website. When that embedded content loads, those third parties may collect data according to their own privacy policies — this happens outside our control, and we encourage you to review their policies if you have concerns.
Service Providers
We use Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging and Analytics) to deliver notifications and understand app usage. Firebase processes this data on our behalf under Google’s own data-processing and privacy terms.
Data Retention & Your Choices
- You can disable notifications at any time in Settings, which removes your device’s push token.
- Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data — saved articles, preferences, and your device identifier — from your device.
- Because we don’t collect personal information, there is no personal profile to request or delete on our end.
Children’s Privacy
Cinema Vines is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we do process, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
